Looking for a chance to step back from the week and think more deeply about God’s saving work? Welcome to Theology After 5, a relaxed yet stimulating series designed for anyone who wants to explore profound theological themes after their workday. Our new course, How to Live – The Sermon on the Mount and Ethics, begins on Tuesday, 26th May and continues for 6 weeks. Open to anyone willing to engage in thoughtful theological reflection.

What Is Theology After 5?

Theology After 5 makes rich theological discussions accessible to everyone. Whether you’re considering formal study or simply curious about Christian thought, this series offers an inviting space to explore, ask questions, and think deeply—without pressure or prerequisites.

Why “How to Live: The Sermon on the Mount and Ethics”?

What difference does being a Christian make to how we live our lives?  What difference should it make?

Taking Jesus’ teaching from the Semon on the Mount as our starting point, this six-week course explore the relationship between Christianity and morality.  Is there just a thing as Christian ethics?  Are we just supposed to do what the Bible says?

Our journey will take us through questions of how to read the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke.  We will look at one of the more difficult periods in modern Christian history, the German Church Struggle and the ethics of Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

What’s Involved?

The hope for our time together is great conversation, not a lecture. Each week you’ll prepare with 1–2 hours of reading or video content before the session. This material will lay the groundwork for lively in-person discussions and activities. The more you prepare, the more you’ll get out of it.

Weekly Sessions

– Start date: Tuesday, 26th of May
– Schedule: May 26; Jun 2, 9, 16, 23, 30

– Time: 5:30–7pm
– Location: The Anglican Centre, 95 Tuam St
– Cheese, crackers, and hot/cold drinks available from 5pm

Each session builds on the last, so regular attendance is encouraged—but don’t worry if you miss a week; you’ll still be able to join in.

Absolutely anyone! Whether you have years of theological study or are just starting to ask questions, Theology After 5 is for you. All you need is curiosity and willingness to engage. Please send us a message if cost is a barrier.
